Description

First light with my new Lunt LS50Tha H-alpha solar telescope went as well as I could have hoped. I was able capture the Sun, focus, tune the etalon, and find a nice prominence. After some initial visual observation, I reconfigured and hooked up the ASI 290MM and was able to capture images of the surface and prominences. Really looking forward to learning my way around solar imaging...

Imaged with a Lunt LS50Tha, Baader UV-IR cut filter (not sure I needed that), and ZWO ASI290MM. Imaging train was configured to give me ~F/7. Image capture using Firecapture (see below for exposure settings). Stacking in AutoStakkert3 (best 25% of 500 frames). Processed in IMPPG (LR deconvolution, stretching) and Registax (wavelets).
